Lors de ma formation comme professeur d’anglais (Master 2 des Métiers de l’Éducation, de l’Enseignement et de la Formation), pas une seule fois, un formateur ne nous a posé la question « pourquoi voulez-vous devenir prof ? ». Cela m’avait choqué !
Cette question ne devrait-elle pas être la première de toutes ? Le formateur ne devrait-il pas nous la poser juste après nous avoir accueillis ?
Ce que j’aime dans la transmission, c’est de « permettre, de débloquer, d’ouvrir ». Je cherche à permettre à tous de communiquer en anglais, à débloquer un verrou qui empêchait l’apprentissage, à ouvrir de nouveaux horizons, des possibilités de voyage, de travail, de contact, à donner des moyens, des outils, des stratégies. C’est en anglais la notion d’empowerment, qui consiste à donner les moyens.
Pour moi, tous ceux qui ont une langue maternelle peuvent apprendre une deuxième langue, à condition de s’y prendre « autrement que selon une approche académique ». Je tiens à cet autrement qui permet d’ouvrir une discussion sur les moyens à utiliser et surtout, de commencer en s’appuyant sur les centres d’intérêt de chacun et de donner un sens fort à l’apprentissage dès le premier jour.
C’est pourtant simple à comprendre : nous apprenons avec plaisir et sans effort les choses qui nous sont utiles.
Et si chacun d’entre nous se posait la question « pourquoi je fais ce métier » ? Et si on la posait à nos responsables politiques ? Une question de bon sens, non ? Moi je trouve qu’elle a du sens, qu’elle « fait sens », comme on dit maintenant. En tout cas, elle va dans le bon sens…
